INSIDE SOPHON
A softer feel doesn't have to mean less feedback. SOPHON's Tri-Response Foam Core is designed for connected contact, controlled rebound, and stability beyond the center.
01 / TECHNOLOGY
FULL EPP FOAM CORE
FEEL THE CONTACT.
Instead of a traditional honeycomb core, SOPHON uses EPP foam tuned for a softer, more connected response—so you can feel more in touch with the ball.
02 / TECHNOLOGY
RESPONSIVE TPE RING
CONTROL THE REBOUND.
The TPE ring helps tune rebound during softer contact while keeping the paddle responsive as you accelerate through the ball.
03 / TECHNOLOGY
REINFORCED PERIMETER FOAM
STAY STEADY OFF-CENTER.
Reinforced foam around the perimeter helps maintain a more consistent response when contact moves away from the sweet spot.

You want power for drives and counters without giving up a controlled feel.
The tested Elongated model has a more substantial swing feel than some quicker-handling paddles.
SOPHON can shape shots, but the tested Elongated isn't among the highest-spin paddles.
Check the certification status of your selected shape before entering an event.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE YOU PLAY.
A few things worth knowing about SOPHON's feel, fit, and long-term use.
SOPHON has a softer, more damped response than some honeycomb paddles, but that doesn't mean the contact feels disconnected. In its Elongated review, Pickleheads found the feedback surprisingly similar to a familiar Gen 3 paddle. Feel is personal, especially when you're switching from a paddle you've used for a long time.
SOPHON uses a full EPP foam core rather than conventional polypropylene honeycomb cells. That avoids the specific issue of honeycomb-cell crushing, but no paddle is immune to wear or changes in feel. We don't currently have published long-term test data establishing a fixed break-in period or lifespan for SOPHON.
Textured paddle surfaces can wear with use, which may affect spin. Playing frequency, contact patterns, and surface care all influence how a paddle ages. SOPHON does not have a verified, guaranteed spin-retention lifespan, so we recommend evaluating its performance over time rather than relying on a fixed number of months.
Both SOPHON shapes have a 4.25-inch grip circumference. Elongated has a 5.6-inch handle, while Widebody has a 5.5-inch handle. Some reviewers have found the cushioned grip fuller than expected, so it's worth comparing the grip size with your current paddle, particularly if you prefer a slimmer handle.
The tested Elongated model has a more substantial, head-heavy swing feel than some quicker-handling paddles. That can feel stable during blocks and resets, but players who prioritize rapid hand exchanges should consider the trade-off. Widebody has a different shape and should be evaluated separately.
SOPHON Elongated is UPA-A approved but is not USAP approved. SOPHON Widebody is not approved by either organization. Check the approved paddle requirements for your event before competing.
Not necessarily. The Pickleheads review and John Kew performance measurements featured on this page are for SOPHON Elongated. Widebody shares the same core technology, but its different dimensions can affect how it plays. The Elongated measurements should not be treated as Widebody test results.
